Core Belief Therapy

Kintsugi is the Japanese art of fixing broken pottery. This technique adds an adhesive dusted with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. This unique method emphasizes its fractures and breaks instead of hiding or disguising them.  This makes the repaired piece even more beautiful than the original.  Our counseling practice is inspired this and by Brene' Brown’s work on “owning your story” and being fully “authentic”. Everyone needs safety, security, love and belonging to heal our fractured parts, so they are made whole again.

We live in a world that doesn’t make things easy for us. Everything seems to be moving faster than anyone can process.  This creates an environment ripe for issues related to our mental health. Anxiety alone is the most common mental health issue in the United States.  It affects over 40 million adults.  That’s nearly a fifth of the adult population. Depression affects about 15 million or 7 percent of the adult population. Depression is the leading cause of disability for adults in young adulthood to middle age. It’s not a surprise that a lot of time, money, and energy is spent trying to alleviate the symptoms of these mental illnesses.

At I.T.S., I provide a thorough therapeutic process and will assist you in understanding how your history created Core Beliefs.  These beliefs aid in your perceptions of needs e.g. safety, security, love and belonging.  I will also provide education on treating both the body and mind to find optimal relief.
